So… what do you mean by doing good?

Wonder why I love the word - good? It all comes back to the much-maligned phrase Do-Gooder.

Do-gooder should mean a person who works to improve something to maximise benefit, but instead, do-gooders are viewed as people trying to do good but failing to do so in the course of action. The underlying message is 'don't give it a go in case you annoy others’ rather than acknowledging that improvement can be challenging but ultimately worth it.

The misplaced fear of being a ‘do-gooder’ is the same fear I see in teams big and small. Organisations often desire to improve their processes and outputs but are unsure who should lead, what should be done, and how. Teams get stuck in the status quo without the right advice, strategic view, and helping hands. Not able to move from getting stuff done,to getting good stuff done, good-er.

D’gooder is my way of championing a focus on improvement and effort. So put on your goody two shoes, be a goody goody and join me, fellow D’gooder.

Don’t fear doing good. Be clear on getting good! - The D’gooder motto.
